Somebody doesn’t like Scarborough Borough Council
and said it in sand on Whitby beach. (A lot of people in Whitby think SBC - our rulers - are a complete sack of dolts.)

This cartoon character (or something very like it) is known as Chad. When she was a girl, my mum went to a shoe shop in North Wales with her mum and was fitted out for shoes by a man named Chadderton who claimed to be the inspiration for the cartoon. It had been invented when he was in the army, where he had a reputation for being nosey.
