Brazil’s environment minister has resigned. She has been battling to save the Amazon basin rainforest from logging and development and it seems that repeated losses to logging and agribusiness interests has worn down her health and broken her will to go on.

And might I take this opportunity to get on my soap box and remind any holier-than-thou vegetarians and/or vegans in the readership that one of the biggest causes of tropical deforestation is to clear the way for soya and palm oil plantations.
Translation: tofu kill rainforest.
Yet another reason to grow your own.

Tofu is Japanese for ‘not fit for human consumption’. The French equivalent is Beaujolais Nouveau.
